About Dragon Ball

Dragon Ball was created in 1984 by Akira Toriyama, one of the world's greatest mangakas. As you probably know, Dragon Ball is one extremely popular series. In fact, it's arguably the most popular anime series ever created! The original manga series spawned three different anime series in Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT. It also led to many anime movies, games, paraphernalia, as well as global recognition. The elements lacking in American cartoons have led to TV networks airing the more popular Japanese anime series, and in turn many kids have grown up watching Dragon Ball. The Dragon Ball manga spans 42 volumes and is a must see even if you have watched the anime series!

Dragon Ball has been licensed by Viz Media. If you're familiar with the anime series, you might wonder where is DBZ and GT? There is only one manga series and this is it; Dragon Ball Z takes place after Volume 17, and GT is only an anime series (so there is no manga for it). Please support the English version of this series.

Unfortunately the scanlators have really slowed down and so there's no timetable of when it will be complete. Dragon Ball has been licensed by Viz Media and is a must buy for any fan of the series. Unlike the other manga scans I post on this site, the Dragon Ball scans on this page are not very good quality. In fact sometimes they're down right ugly. The only reason I posted them on this site is because I absolutely love the series and I want to show it to the world even if the quality isn't that great. If you enjoy reading it on this site, you really owe it to yourself to purchase the real manga because Viz Media's quality is extremely high quality.

Manga Scan Information

The manga scans you will find on this site are ones created by fans. They are not scanned versions of the licensed English versions. On the topic of licensed manga series, I do host licensed series unlike many sites that take down manga scans when they get licensed. I feel that showcasing the series actually helps in sales. I usually do not host entire series (usually just the beginning or latter volumes) so people tend to purchase the actual graphic novels when they find out how good they are. As for the fansubbed manga scans, they are created by manga scanlation groups. You can get a full list of groups over at Manga Updates. These groups create these fansubs for the fans - I simply distribute them online. Within each series you will certainly see information pertaining to the groups that created the manga scans. Please support the groups by visiting their web site or mIRC channel.
